The mind space that I am in when I am making art is not a world of words, it is an experience. When I am painting, I am more gestural, wanting to capture the essence or spirit of what I am painting, like a visual poem. These paintings are intimate portraits capturing the beauty of every day life in my hometown.
This event raises money for the North Louisiana Arts Council, which helps to support the Arts in our community. I am delighted to be the artist to design the artwork for the Food and Wine Festival Poster this year! I have included the website below to purchase. There are two sizes available: 18×24 signed and numbered for $50.00 and 12×16 for $15.00. I look forward to seeing you October 12th, where we will be auctioning off the original pastel artwork as seen on the 2018 Food and Wine Festival Poster. NorthDeltaFoodandWineFestival.com
Hello fellow art lovers! I CANNOT get enough of these beautiful Louisiana Lotus. I visited Black Bayou Wildlife Refuge a few weeks ago and they were blooming their hearts out. What a site to behold. Currently, I am experimenting with gold and silver leaf. My sister gave me a kit a few years back for my birthday and I finally grabbed it off the shelf, blew off the dust, and got to work. The silver leaf reminds me of how the water dances on the lotus. There is an incredible silver green, jewel like dance the water does on the leaves. I am attempting to capture the meditative quality this landscape has on me. I will be showing this work and more at the Open Studios this crawl. It is coming up real soon so mark your calendars!
